VISIT

Exaudi is a group of experienced young singers, dedicated to performing a wide range of choral music at a high level. Most singers are graduates from good children’s and school choir programs wanting to continue their choral journeys. Founded in 2007 by Claire Preston & Bob Stewart, Exaudi is now part of the Young Voices of Melbourne organisation and is conducted by Juliana Kay and Mark O’Leary OAM. Exaudi performs regularly in and around Melbourne and loves touring and sharing its music further afield.

Recent tours include festivals in Italy and Spain (2023), Ireland and Scotland with US hammer dulcimer player and composer Malcolm Dalglish (2019), the Northern Territory (2018), the National Folk Festival in Canberra (2017 and 2022), Singapore and Malaysia (2016) and Festival of Voices in Hobart (2015 and 2021). Exaudi takes its name from the Latin word meaning “hear us”. Exaudi’s latest CD, With Waiting Breath, was released in December 2018.

MARK O’LEARY OAM – ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR
One of Australia’s most active choral conductors is widely respected for his work with Young Voices of Melbourne (YVM) which he founded in 1990 following a Churchill Fellowship study tour of outstanding children’s choirs around the world. With YVM Mark has produced ten CD recordings, toured all states and territories of Australia and made nine international tours to Europe, South Africa, North America, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Samoa. He is also Principal Guest Conductor of Gondwana Voices, Australia’s national children’s choir with whom he has made three CDs and five international tours, has presented many workshops on choral music education throughout Australia and internationally and is a regular guest conductor at choral festivals. He publishes Australian choral music for young choirs in the Young Voices of Melbourne Choral Series and is the author of the Sight Singing School books and web site. Mark is an Honorary Life Member of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia and was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to choral music and education in the 2018 Australia Day Honours list.

JULIANA KAY – DIRECTOR
Juliana is a conductor, composer and teacher with a deep-rooted love for choirs and choral music. Equally at home working with children, community groups and professionals, Juliana rehearses with at least 250 singers every week. She works with several choirs in the Young Voices of Melbourne organisation and is Head of Choral at St Catherine’s School. In 2018 she also founded innovative chamber choir Choral Edge, which sees her regularly experimenting with multimedia performances and theatre collaborations. As a singer, Juliana has sung and toured with some of Australia’s finest chamber choirs, including Ensemble Gombert, Polyphonic Voices, The Australian Voices, and Alta Collective. Juliana’s compositions are performed regularly by choirs across Australia and are available through the Australian publisher SingScore.
